Future technologies of the automotive industry

The world's leading automotive companies are actively working to ensure that the cars they produce are as comfortable and safe as possible. In the past few years, there have been five rapidly developing technologies that free drivers from almost all difficulties of the trip.

Autopilot

Analysts predict the development of the technology of autopilot. For example, the Japanese authorities have drawn up a plan according to which by 2030 the number of autopilot vehicles should reach 25%.

Representatives of the US Transport Ministry noted that in the case of a 100% utilization of self-driving cars, the country could save about $340 billion from traffic accidents casualties. This is the main advantage of the autopilot: reduction of the number of road accidents victims.

Car-to-Car and Vehicle-to-Vehicle

In order a car with autopilot could recognize objects on the roads, developers actively work on the technologies that will facilitate the safe interaction between all road users. The most common are Car-to-Car and Vehicle-to-Vehicle, as well as Vehicle-to-Everything and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure.

How does it work? The autonomous system receives information from all sensors of the owner's car and those of the cars around. The system not only advises the driver how to drive, but can also make decisions on subsequent maneuvers.

5G

After making a decision to stop, the autopilot car with 4G will drive at least one and a half meters. It happens due to the response time of 4G and the subsequent addressing to the braking system.

With the 5G, it will be possible to reduce this distance up to 2.45 centimeters thanks to the instantaneous response of the braking system and the fast response, compared to that of the 4G.

Artificial intelligence

General Motors auto group plans to introduce AI technologies into its cars. For example, one of the company’s plans includes the use of capabilities of Watson supercomputer from IBM.

Manufacturers are working on the creation of a platform that can remember information about the driver's preferences, analyze it and offer the necessary services during the journey.

AR technologies

AR technologies will be able to turn ordinary driving into intuitive and user-friendly activity. For example, the windshield may include AR indicators that show various information about traffic jams, weather, the nearest gas stations and much more.
